About the Event
Is your body trying to tell you something?
Our bodies are amazing communicators, but we don't always listen. If you find yourself saying these types of things regularly, this is the workshop for you:
- I'm tired beyond a lack of sleep - my soul is tired
- My body is trying to tell me something, but I don't know what it is
- I know I need to (fill in the blank) for my body, but can't find the energy to motivate my action
In this workshop, we will not only give you a tool to help you connect with the wisdom of your body, but we will actually practice Yoga Nidra together. Yoga Nidra is said to be a conscious state of sleep. It has been used very successfully with soldiers returning from war. Elizabeth (our facilitator for the workshop) uses it often for her corporate clients to reset during a stressful workweek. This practice helps one go deeply inward in a twilight sort of state. Instructions can still be heard as you are led on a journey that deeply relaxes the practitioner leaving them refreshed and energized. It is a powerful healing tool in that it allows for the parasympathetic nervous system (your rest and digest system) to do its job. It requires no special clothing, tools, props, or experience. Just a quiet place, and a willingness to allow the body to rest.
Together, we will:
- Cover the basics of what Yoga Nidra is
- Review and apply best practices for your ultimate benefit and comfort
- Engage in a guided Yoga Nidra experience
- Reflect on your guided journey with a creative practice
- Share and explore the insights received
So if you are reading this and your shoulders have already dropped down from your earlobes and your breathing has deepened, we look forward to sharing this beautiful practice with you.
Meet your facilitators!
Elizabeth Sosner is a generational healer, mystic, hedgewitch, yoga instructor, functional movement, credentialed teacher of adults with disabilities, actor, artist, and resource guide for people. She has spent her life in an ongoing healing journey from trauma which included chronic illness and pain. She is a space holder and guide for those wishing to heal their trauma as well. She believes there are many paths to healing just as there are individuals. Her wish is that everyone feels whole despite their circumstances and can trust their own body, soul, and mind to grow and heal allowing for a joyous and energetic life.
Elizabeth started the yogic practices as a very young child after being introduced to them by a spiritual teacher who observed the difficult environment in which she was being raised. Her introduction was comprised of very simple animal shapes with her body and the breath that accompanied them. As the western world began to popularize the movement piece of the practice, she recognized that the deep relaxation pieces were missing from many of the teachings. This became quite apparent in her own yoga certification program that she attended. As an adult, she was diagnosed with PTSD. To begin the work to heal herself, she began to incorporate more mindfulness practices which led her to the practice of Yoga Nidra. She teaches yoga to her own employees at the construction company with which she is co-owner along with her husband and son.
